What if we could empower thousands more entrepreneurs to pursue breakthrough medical therapies? We’d want to try to avoid suffering if we could, right?

Yet drug discovery today remains a difficult grind, preventing many from pursuing novel therapies. Those who are in the game feel stifled by the tedious fundraising process as well as inaccessible data and cumbersome licensing procedures. Science often doesn’t live up to its promise, leading to cures that stay trapped in laboratories.

A new breed of innovators is saying humanity doesn’t have to accept this status quo.

Drug discovery teams are finding solutions from the blockchain-based internet–Web3, which expands access to research funding and data. This newly expanded access is created by fusing together blockchains and science known as decentralized science or “DeSci.”

The internet has enabled new ways of working, solving problems, and distributing money. The same can be true for scientific research, moving it away from analog fields of universities and industries and democratizing it to the entire world–anyone with an internet connection.
