Can NFTs Make Groups More Solid?

As we spend more of our future lives in the virtual world, real-life groups that have a weak presence in the virtual world could wither. In short, stronger virtual presence, stronger real-life presence.

While websites have served as the primary building blocks for that world, a new tool has emerged: non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Versus a static website, NFTs are dynamic objects bonding together virtual communities. They show great promise in becoming the digital touchpoint between organizations and their members.

Consumer brands, restaurants, sports teams, and universities now are using non-fungible tokens (NFTs) as the basis for a richer connection with consumers. Can associations, non-profits, and charities do the same?

NFTs as Virtual Membership Cards

NFTs can function like membership cards or tickets, serving as digital keys to online spaces where holders can engage with each other. As a bonus, they can give access to events, exclusive merchandise, and targeted discounts.

Because NFTs travel on the public platform of blockchains, it’s possible for organizations to send additional products directly to anyone who owns a certain token. All of this gives NFT holders value beyond simple membership. Associations can use NFTs as a channel to build a vibrant community around their association.
